Replace the rollers of the Xtran pinch

Introduction

You can replace the Xtran pinch rollers without service assistance. The total amount of rollers over the full width of the printer is 32.

The clamp and the roller with axis

Before you begin

Use Colorado 1630 prescribed:

  • Microflex gloves for handling ink

  • Xtran pinch rollers, axis and clamps

  • Small screwdriver

  • Piece of paper (A3)

NOTE

For information on the prescribed maintenance materials, see List of Colorado 1630 maintenance materials.

CAUTION

Wear the prescribed gloves when contact with ink or maintenance materials is possible. Gloves should always overlap sleeves. Follow the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) guidelines carefully in order to ensure maximum safety.

Procedure

  1. Move to the media input side and open the top cover.
  2. Put on the Colorado 1630 approved gloves.
  3. Carefully push the printhead carriage to the left in manual maintenance position (1).
    IMPORTANT

    Touch the printhead carriage on the covered area only, otherwise you can damage the printheads.

  4. Take a piece of paper and place it under the Xtran roller you want to replace (2).
  5. Remove the black clamp from the axis.

    Use the small screwdriver to push the black plastic part of the axis on both sides away from the unit.

    Only push at the top of the plastic part otherwise you will break the axis holder.

  6. Remove the axis from the holder.
  7. Remove the roller from the holder.
  8. Take the new roller and place it into the holder.
  9. Insert the new axis through the holder and the roller.
  10. Install the new black clamp onto the axis.

    To ease installing the black clamp, lift the roll upwards slightly.

  11. Dispose the rollers, axis, clamps and gloves as chemical waste according to local regulations.
