Replace the maintenance tray (new design)

Introduction

Replace the maintenance tray when the system gives a warning.

  • The operator panel gives an orange warning when you can replace the maintenance tray.

  • The operator panel gives a red warning when you must replace the maintenance tray. The printing process is stopped until you have replaced the maintenance tray.

NOTE

There are 2 types of maintenance trays. The new design has a green lever, visible between the media cover and the maintenance drawer. This procedure describes the new design.

Before you begin

Use Colorado 1630 prescribed:

  • Microflex gloves for handling ink

  • Lint free cloths

  • Maintenance tray

NOTE

For information on the prescribed maintenance materials, see List of Colorado 1630 maintenance materials.

CAUTION

Wear the prescribed gloves when contact with ink or maintenance materials is possible. Gloves should always overlap sleeves. Follow the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) guidelines carefully in order to ensure maximum safety.

IMPORTANT

Only open the maintenance drawer when the operator panel displays a message allowing you to open it.

Procedure

  1. On the operator panel tap on the [Tools] icon on the right.
  2. Go to [Maintenance tray].
  3. Tap on [Replace] and read the instructions.
  4. Put on the Colorado 1630 approved gloves.
  5. Go to the media input side and locate the maintenance drawer on the right.
  6. Open the media cover (1) and lift the lever of the maintenance drawer on the right (2).
  7. Pull carefully to slide the maintenance drawer to the front (3). Make sure to extend the drawer completely.
    CAUTION

    Open the maintenance drawer very carefully to not let the ink splash and spill.

  8. Lift the metal holder up.
  9. Put the lid on the tray.
  10. For both hands, put your thumb on the lid and your other fingers under the side reel. Squeeze to click and seal the lid completely.
  11. Lift the maintenance tray out with both hands on the sides of the tray. Dispose the sealed maintenance tray as chemical waste according to local regulations.
  12. Take a lint free cloth and clean the drawer and holder on the inside and outside until all residue ink is gone.
  13. Take a new and empty maintenance tray and place it in the maintenance drawer.
    IMPORTANT

    Do not place the lid on the new maintenance tray, as ink can spill that will damage the machine.

  14. Close the metal holder.
  15. Dispose the gloves as chemical waste according to local regulations.
  16. Push and close the maintenance drawer.
  17. On the operator panel tap [Replaced] to confirm you replaced a full maintenance tray with an empty maintenance tray and end the action.
