Clean the ruler

Introduction

The printer uses a ruler to control the printhead carriage. A polluted ruler interferes with control of the printhead carriage. In case of pollution, you can clean the ruler.

NOTE

You can clean a ruler marked with a green dot. Do not clean a ruler that is not marked with a green dot.

About this task

If the operator panel shows error 5709, clean the ruler.

Before you begin

Use Colorado 1630 prescribed:

  • Microflex gloves for handling ink

  • Lint free cloths

  • Cleaning liquid IPA

NOTE

For information on the prescribed maintenance materials, see List of Colorado 1630 maintenance materials.

CAUTION

Wear the prescribed gloves when contact with ink or maintenance materials is possible. Gloves should always overlap sleeves. Follow the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) guidelines carefully in order to ensure maximum safety.

IMPORTANT

Use the prescribed cleaning liquid. Do not use any other cleaners.

Procedure

  1. Open the top cover of the printer.
  2. Put on the Colorado 1630 approved gloves.
  3. Dampen a lint free cloth with the cleaner IPA and clean the left side of the ruler until you reach the printhead carriage. Make sure that the lint free cloth covers the front and back of the ruler.
  4. Close the top cover.
  5. Start the maintenance action via the operator panel. Make sure that the [Advanced automatic nozzle optimisation] is deselected. For more information, see Start periodic maintenance.
  6. Wait until the printhead carriage is in cleaning position.
  7. Open the top cover.
  8. Dampen a lint free cloth with the cleaner IPA and clean the right-hand side of the ruler.
  9. Close the top cover.
  10. On the operator panel, tap [Completed] to end the maintenance action.
  11. Dispose the gloves and cloths as chemical waste according to local regulations.
