Start periodic maintenance

Introduction

Start periodic maintenance when the operator panel gives a warning.

Periodic maintenance contains a variety of mandatory maintenance actions and the possibility to print a nozzle classification chart to optimize the nozzles.

IMPORTANT

You must perform all periodic maintenance actions when indicated, otherwise the printer functions are not guaranteed.

Procedure

  1. On the operator panel tap on the [Tools] icon on the right.
  2. Tap on [Periodic maintenance].
  3. When you want to print nozzle classification charts to optimize the nozzles:
    1. Make sure [Advanced automatic nozzle optimisation] is selected.
    2. Select a roll to print the nozzle classification charts on.
    NOTE

The nozzle classification chart can only be printed on media of one of the following categories:

    • Heavy paper > 200 gsm (54 lb bond)

    • Paper 120-200 gsm (32-54 lb bond)

    • Film

    • Polymeric & cast self-adhesive vinyl

    • Thick film > 200 um (0.0079 inch)

On the other media categories, these procedures cannot be performed.

When no roll is loaded with one of the above mentioned categories, no roll will be indicated for the automatic nozzle optimization.

Use a media width that is as large as possible and larger than 840 mm (33 inch) in order to get the best optimization results.

The [Advanced automatic nozzle optimisation] takes about 45 minutes. The printer will print two charts and optimize the print quality.

  4. Tap on [Start].
  5. Perform all off the listed actions:
    1. Clean the maintenance station, wiper and clean wall

    2. Clean the matrix plate area

    3. Clean the mirrors

    4. Clean the M&C scanner

    5. Clean the platen

    6. Clean the buffer plate

    7. Vacuum the chiller and check the fluid level (first design)

    8. Clean the ink unit

    IMPORTANT

Wait until the [Completed] button turns black and the printhead carriage is in maintenance position, before you open the top cover and start cleaning.
