Printhead Maintenance

Introduction

It is important that nozzle performance is evaluated to determine if the printer is ready for production. To evaluate the nozzle jetting performance of each printhead the nozzle check print must be printed.

Print a Nozzle check

See Print a Nozzle Check for the procedure.

When you have identified the printheads that have failing nozzles, you can perform the following Printhead Maintenance procedures to correct the nozzle dropouts.

NOTE

Do Printhead Maintenance on the required color channels if:

  • more than 2 nozzles outs exist in a single printhead

  • 2 or more adjacent nozzle outs exist in a single printhead

Printhead maintenance procedures:

  1. Dry Printhead Swabbing Procedure

  2. Automatic Printhead Maintenance (AMS)

  3. Manual Ink Purge and Printhead Swabbing

IMPORTANT

Do NOT use flush liquid for daily printhead maintenance. It may contribute to increased ink/flush pollution levels on the printheads and the underside of the carriage.
