Apply a recipe with locked elements

Introduction

Arizona Xpert can import new recipes created in Arizona Xpert Engine. The use of the Arizona Xpert recipes enables you to re-use complex designs for similar jobs. This eliminates possible mistakes, reprints and waste.

Recipes can add locked elements to your design and can change the size of your artboard.

Before you begin

For this example we use the 'Table Top' recipe we created in Arizona Xpert Engine.

For more information about creating new recipes, go to the Arizona Xpert Engine Help.

This recipe creates a print-ready PDF for printing on the backside of a glass table top with a diameter of 60 cm. The recipe adds the artboard size, a logo and a white layer to your design.

The recipe must be present in your recipes collection. See Recipe management how you can import new recipes.

Procedure

  1. Open Adobe Illustrator
  2. Open a design for your new application.
  3. Open the Arizona Xpert panel

Select [Window] -> [Extensions] ->Arizona Xpert

  4. Select the recipe 'Table Top'.
  5. Click yes.
  6. Your artboard is changed to match the recipe. Your image is not the right size. Change the size of the image to fit the artboard.
  7. In the layers tab two locked layers/groups are added.
    • Circle

    • Logo

    NOTE

For the right use of the recipe it is necessary to leave the layers unchanged. Do not unlock, move or remove content within the locked layers/groups. However you can change the order of the layers/groups.

    NOTE

In Adobe Photoshop groups are added and in Adobe Illustrator layers are added.

  8. Open the Arizona Xpert panel again and assign the image layer to the recipe.
  9. Click on [Render document] to generate the preview of your design.

To generate or update the preview of your design you can select one of the following options:

    • Select [Render document] to render the complete artwork.

    • Select [Quick rendering] to render the document in a lower resolution in order to speed up the rendering process.

  10. Check your design in the preview screen

You can rotate, shift, or zoom in and out on the preview as follows:

    • Rotate: click and hold the left mouse button.

    • Shift: click and hold the right mouse button.

    • Zoom in and out: rotate the mouse wheel.

In the environment section you can choose a different background for the preview.

Click the refresh button in the bottom right corner of the preview screen to reset your preview.

  11. Click on [Export to PDF] to export your design as a print-ready PDF.
