Start manual maintenance

Introduction

Start manual maintenance in case of quality issues.

You can clean the maintenance station, wiper, clean wall, matrix plate, M&C scanner, platen and you can print a nozzle classification chart to optimize the nozzles.

Procedure

  1. On the operator panel tap on the [Tools] icon on the right.
  2. Tap on [Manual maintenance].
  3. NOTE

We recommend that you check the [Advanced automatic nozzle optimization] when you are experiencing quality issues. After you have cleaned the matrix plate and the printheads the recovered nozzles have to be switched on again (if you do not check this option the nozzles will keep the status "do not use").

When you want to print nozzle classification charts to optimize the nozzles:
    1. Make sure [Advanced automatic nozzle optimization] is selected.
    2. Select a roll to print the nozzle classification charts on.
    NOTE

The nozzle classification chart can only be printed on media of one of the following categories:

    • Heavy paper > 200 gsm (54 lb bond)

    • Paper 120-200 gsm (32-54 lb bond)

    • Film

    • Polymeric & cast self-adhesive vinyl

    • Thick film > 200 um (0.0079 inch)

On the other media categories, these procedures cannot be performed.

When no roll is loaded with one of the above mentioned categories, no roll will be indicated for the automatic nozzle optimization.

Use a media width that is as large as possible and larger than 840 mm (33 inch) in order to get the best optimization results.

The [Advanced automatic nozzle optimization] can take quite some time, around 25 minutes. The printer will optimize the media step accuracy and print two nozzle classification charts.

  4. Tap on [Start].
  5. Perform any or all of the listed actions:
    1. Clean the maintenance station, wiper and clean wall

    2. Clean the matrix plate

    3. Clean the M&C scanner

    4. Clean the platen

    5. Clean the buffer plate

    IMPORTANT

Wait until the [Completed] button turns black and the printhead carriage is in maintenance position, before you open the top cover and start cleaning.
