The PRISMAsync Print Server offers the possibility to print jobs via multiple print queues. You can create and assign properties to the print queues. The properties are based upon specific workflow requirements. Therefore, such a queue is called an automated workflow. For each automated workflow, the operator can define specific print settings, which are assigned to the jobs sent via the automated workflow. You can create an unlimited number of automated workflows in the Settings Editor in section 'Workflow'. However, the performance of the print server can be reduced when you create more than 250 automated workflows.
The LPD queue name is used as the name of the automated workflow. However, it is possible that the two names are not identical. Reason: The name of the automated workflow can be specified in Unicode, but the LPD queue names can only be specified and accessed in ASCII on the sending host.
The queues are accessible from the sending host. Each queue represents a different automated workflow.
The Océ VarioPrint 6000 Series has one default queue. The default queue is the default automated workflow. You cannot rename or delete the default automated workflow. Jobs are send to the default queue of the Océ VarioPrint 6000 Series, when:
No queue is specified.
A queue is specified, but the queue is not an automated workflow.
You can use an automated workflow in combination with socket printing. The default automated workflow is associated to a socket channel. The Key Operator can associate the socket channel to another automated workflow.
Job settings can be defined at several points in the job workflow. For example, the same print setting can be available in both the automated workflow and the ticket. Therefore, the job settings are handled according to a defined priority. Use setting "Overrule job ticket" to set the priority of print settings of the automated workflow and the job ticket.
Overrule job ticket = true
The print setting in the automated workflow is used. The same print setting in the ticket is ignored.
