This chapter describes the system specifications of the Copy Control Interface (CCI) in order to support print click accounting.
The CCI is a hardware option.
A Copy Control Device (CCD) is a separate module, which supports:
Authorise printing
By supplying pre-paid credits (a pre-paid card) or post-paid debits (account number)
Count the print clicks
By decrementing pre-paid credits of pre-paid card or by incrementing post-paid debits on an account number.
A CCD is connected to the printer engine via a Copy Control Interface (CCI).
To print a job on the print engine, credits must be available on the CCD. It is the responsibility of the user to have enough credits on the CCD.
When a job has to be printed or is printing and no credits are available on the CCD, the print engine stops and a runtime contradiction is showed with the message "refill credits". When the operator adds credits on the CCD, the runtime contradiction is removed and printing starts or continues.
