Paper output handling

The printer send a list of the available output trays to the host. Output trays can be selected through simple numbers – Media Destination ID. The output tray numbers in the host application are equal to the number in the IPDS data stream.

The number of available logical output bins is reported to the host during start-up of the printer. The IPDS output bin number is directly mapped to the logical output bin number of the printer. Logical bin number 0 is not supported.

NOTE

Other finishers are not supported in IPDS.

Offset stacking

Offset stacking allows you to separate jobs or documents within the job through an offset of the stacker tray. An Alternate Offset Stacker command in the IPDS data stream will cause the printer to shift the output tray before the next page is stacked.

Finishing

The Medium Finishing Control command in the IPDS data stream allows control of finishing. The following commands are supported:

Legend:

  1. Depending on the media orientation (Long Edge Feed/Short Edge Feed) the most logical position is chosen for the corner staple, edge stitch and punch position.

  2. For one- and three-edge trimming.

  3. The ID 10 Punch with the output tray IDs 3 and 6 are valid for the puncher in the staple finisher. For the Professional Puncher, all outputs, except output tray ID 8, can be used. To use the Professional Puncher, the operations-count parameter in the triplet X'85' must be set to 05 or higher. The puncher in the staple finisher is used when the operations-count parameter in the Triplet X'85' is set to a value lower than 05.

  4. Offset stacking is not controlled via an X'85' triplet. The offset stacking functionality is only supported for specific output tray ids, see the table above. Offset stacking can be set on a sheet level.
