Export the media catalogue

A message is shown when a printer does not support the export, or merge, of a media catalogue file. You cannot export an empty media catalogue.

  1. Click [Tools] - [Media] - [Media catalogue].

  2. Click [Export].

  3. You can export the media catalogue directly to a printer or to an XML file.

    • [Export to printers]

You can only export the media catalogue to printers driven by a PRISMAsync Print Server.

      1. The printer must be switched on during the export of the media catalogue.

      2. Select the printer(s). These printer(s) receive the media catalogue of PRISMAprepare VDP Editor.

The administrator configures which printers are available to you.

      3. You can select the following options:

        • [Merge with the existing media catalogue]

Merge the media catalogue of the printer with the media catalogue of PRISMAprepare VDP Editor.

        • [Replace the existing media catalogue]

Replace the media catalogue of the printer with the media catalogue of PRISMAprepare VDP Editor.

        • [Replace or merge depending on the printer capabilities]

The printer capabilities determine if the media catalogue of the printer is replaced by or merged with the media catalogue of PRISMAprepare VDP Editor.

    • [Export to file]

      1. For option [Format] you can select the following values:

        • PRISMAprepare VDP Editor file

Use this format when you want to configure other installations of PRISMAprepare VDP Editor. You need an XML file with this format when you want to import the media catalogue in PRISMAprepare VDP Editor.

        • [Printer file]

Obsolete. Do not use this value.

        • [Printer file - new generation]

An XML file is created that contains the media catalogue of PRISMAprepare VDP Editor.

You can use this file only for printers driven by a PRISMAsync Print Server. It is recommended to use option [Export to printers] instead of creating an XML file with format [Printer file - new generation].

  4. Define the default banner page, front cover and back cover in the exported media catalogue.

  5. Click [Export].
