Print a maximum number of business cards on the sheet

In this exercise, you print a maximum number of similar business cards on a double-sided sheet. This minimizes printing cost.

  1. Open the file Businesscard_3.5x2.

  2. In the left pane, select the [Document] workspace.

  3. From the menu, click [Select]  → [All] to select all pages.

  4. Click the [From media catalogue] button. The media catalogue opens.

  5. Select a media of size Tabloid 11x17 and click [Assign].

    The [Page size] dialogue opens.

  6. Select [Keep page size] and click [OK].

  7. Go to the [Production] workspace.

  8. Select a physical printing device, e.g. a Canon imagePRESS series or Océ VarioPrint series printer. If not available, select the PRISMAprepare print to PDF printer.

  9. In the [Layout] section, do:

    1. For [Imposition template], select [Same-up with binding edge inside].

    2. Select [Maximum] for option [Same-up].

    3. Set [Gutters for same-up] to 0.2 inch.

      The preview changes and displays a number of business cards on the sheet with an extra area around the cards.

      NOTE

      It is quite common to see values between 0.1 to 0.2 inch for trim, bleed and gutter.

    4. For [Print marks], enable [Corner trim marks].

    NOTE

    All settings influence the number of cards that fit on the sheet. In [Layout]  → [Document media] you can change the size of the media.

  10. The sheet preview should look like this:

  11. Click the [Print] button. The document is sent to the printer.

  12. Save the file in the 'Participants' folder on the desktop with the name Scenario_52.pdf.
