Solve problems with hotfolders

Problem

Cause and solution

Not possible to map a hotfolder

  • Check that you type the correct path.

  • Check that you type the correct username and password.

  • Check if the user account is authorized to access hotfolders.

  • Check if the user account belongs to the user group that is authorized to access this hotfolder.

The document is not printed and no longer available in the hotfolder

  • Check if the network connection of the printer is lost.

  • PRISMAsync Print Server has identified that the print document is not valid. Check the print document.

  • PRISMAsync Print Server has identified that the job is a streaming job. Streaming jobs cannot be submitted via hotfolders.

The document is not printed and still available in the hotfolder

  1. Check if the print document is open in an application. Close the print document.

  2. Remove the print document from the hotfolder. Drag and drop the document again into the hotfolder.

The document is not printed according to the properties of the JDF ticket.

PRISMAsync Print Server has detected that the JDF ticket is not valid and removed it from the hotfolder. Check the JDF ticket.

There is a slow response when the hotfolder communication protocol is WebDAV and you use a Windows 7 workstation.

Adjust the proxy server settings.

The following error message is displayed while you map a drive via WebDAV on a Windows 7 workstation:

The folder you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another.

If you used the [Add network location] function, repeat the procedure with the [Map network drive] function.

Print document remains in the hotfolder at zero bytes. This can occur the first time a print document is dropped into a new mapped drive.

Remove the print document from the hotfolder. Drag and drop the document again into the hotfolder.

To avoid the problem, you can use a third-party WebDAV client.

The JDF ticket is no longer available in the hotfolder

PRISMAsync Print Server has detected that the print document is not valid and removed it from the hotfolder. Check the JDF ticket.

Duplicate and missing files when jobs sent via hotfolders

Use a third-party WebDAV client such as 'Cyberduck'.
