Manual import

Orders

You can import orders manually using the Order processing workspace. Currently, only orders exported from systems with the same PRISMAdirect version are supported.

ZIP file containing orders

The orders are contained in a ZIP file. The ZIP file has a well defined structure and uses strict file names. It may contain one or more folders, each folder containing an order together with all its related content:

  • An order ticket file (XML format) and a JDF ticket file (XML format). Both files define the order metadata.

  • For each job inside an order:

    • A job ticket file (XML format) and, if exported, a JDF ticket file (XML format). Both files define the job metadata.

    • The files of the job. The files can be any type of file. However, the mimetype for each file type has limitations.

    • The current and the original merged PDF, if these files were available at export time.

Importing an order

When an order is imported, PRISMAdirect checks if the imported order was created using the current definition. If the imported order was created with a different definition, then PRISMAdirect will update the imported order to use the ticket items of the current definition. Note that old item value fields are not deleted.

The order and its jobs must be compliant with the rules specified in the Definition it was last been edited. If not, the import action will fail.

None of the imported files will be changed.

You cannot import an order when the order is already available in PRISMAdirect. You have to delete an existing order before you can import it again. Note that orders are identified by their QEntryIdand not by their OrderNumber. You can find the QEntryId in the XML file. It is the only unique identifier of an order.

Definition

The complete description of the job ticket and order ticket fields, and the views on them, along with the products and web shops defined in the system, is called a definition. You can update or create a new current definition for PRISMAdirect in the Product & order editor. This includes creation and deletion of fields (‘items’) and adding or removing them in the customer or operator view (a.k.a. web shop or print room views). You can export the definition using the Product & order editor. An exported definition can be imported by any PRISMAdirect system with the same or newer version. The definition is contained in a ZIP file.

The definition is read into the Product & order editor when you import it. You have to click "Publish" to save it to the server of PRISMAdirect. Now, the definition is the new current definition

The definition must contain a set of mandatory items. Of these items, some of the properties must have the default value.
