Create a booklet and control the cover

  1. Open the file Manual_A4.pdf.

  2. From the menu, select [Document]  → [Document type...]. The [Document type] dialogue opens.

  3. Select [Booklet] and select a finisher.

  4. Select [2 Saddle stitches] for option [Staple]. Click [OK],

  5. Select [Cover] and enable option [Define cover].

    NOTE

    Covers can also be created separately in section [Document]  → [Document type...]  → [Cover]

  6. Click [Edit]. The [Document type cover] dialogue opens.

    1. Select [Included in current document] to confirm that the file contains both cover and body.

      NOTE

      When the cover is available as a separate file, you can insert it using the [From file] option.

    2. Select [The cover must be created].

      NOTE

      The size of the pages in the body and cover of the original document must be equal.

    3. Uncheck option [Print on both sides] to leave the inner side of the cover empty.

    4. Click [OK] to close the [Document type cover] dialogue.

  7. Click [OK] to close the [Document type] dialogue.

  8. NOTE

    Note that the media changes to A3. In the preview, scroll through the document and notice the empty pages between page 1 and 2 and between page 89 and 90.

  9. In [Structure], select a random page, for example, page 10.

  10. Click the [From media catalogue] button, select an A3, cyan coloured media and click [OK].

    NOTE

    In case of a booklet, automatically all pages on the same sheet will have the new media assigned, in this case page 10, 11, 80 and 81. This behaviour is specified in the [Tools]  → [General options] dialogue.

  11. Save the file in the 'Participants' folder on the desktop with the name Scenario_25.pdf.
