Perform a color validation test

varioPRINT iX-series color validation tests provide an objective method to check the color reproduction of the printer on the selected media.

You perform the test with media that have been calibrated just before the color validation. The target charts are printed on these media.

Print cleaning sheets before the test charts

NOTE

Printing cleaning sheets before test charts is usually not needed for inkjet printers.

  1. Open the Settings Editor and go to: [Color]  → [Color validation & verification].

  2. Click [Configure].

  3. Use the [Print cleaning sheets before test charts] setting to indicate if you want to print cleaning sheets before the charts are printed.

Print the target charts

  1. Calibrate the media family of the target media.

  2. Load and assign approximately 10 sheets of the target media in one of the paper trays.

  3. Touch [System]  → [Media].

  4. Select the target media.

  5. Touch [Validate].

  6. Use the [Media print mode] setting to select the media print mode.

  7. Use the [Color validation test] setting to select a validation test .

  8. Select [Only print target].

  9. The printer prints and delivers the charts. They arrive in the top tray of the high capacity stacker.

  10. Finish the procedure.

  11. Put the target charts on a place to dry.

Measure the charts

When the charts are completely dry, restart the validation test with the same settings. Then measure the charts with an i1Pro3 spectrophotometer.

  1. Touch [System]  → [Media].

  2. Select the same target media.

  3. Touch [Validate].

  4. Use the [Media print mode] setting to select the same media print mode.

  5. Use the [Color validation test] setting to select the same validation test.

  6. Select [Only measure target].

  7. Measure the charts with the i1Pro3 spectrophotometer.

  8. Finish the procedure.
