Print an application using the [FLXture] recipe

Introduction

With the [FLXture] recipe, you can add subtle surface detail to your prints, like a background texture, embossed lettering or a bold pattern. The recipe creates layers of UVgel ink printed on top of each other, to create a micro-textured effect.

NOTE

For printing an application with [FLXture] micro texture, use a print profile that can process 5 print layers. Check www.graphiplaza.cpp.canon, section: Media, for print profiles.

Procedure

Open PRISMAguide XL Engine via the shortcut on your desktop or start menu.
Click on [New job]
Select the [FLXture] recipe.
The [Overview] tab opens.
Check / select the settings for:
- [Printer]
- [Media]
- [Print mode]
  
  Select a print mode that can process 5 print layers.
Click on [Select file].

Open a PDF that you want to print using the [FLXture] recipe.

The PDF must contain:

A layer named: 'Color' that contains all the elements for the top layer.
A layer named: 'Texture'. This layer contains the elements that create the texture.

Ensure that the elements in the 'Texture' layer are using the spot color 'Spot 1'.
When the texture is not part of the design, make sure that the top layer completely overlaps the areas for texture.
The PDF must have the option: 'Create Acrobat Layers from Top-Level Layers' enabled.

Open the [Layers] tab.

The recipe automatically assigns the correct settings per layer.

NOTE

The elements using the spot color 'Spot 1' will be printed in white.

Select the [Media layout] tab and check the settings.
When you change the settings, for example to add more copies, click the button [Confirm settings] to accept the changes.
Open the [Print] tab and check the settings.
Click on the [Print] button to submit the job to ONYX Thrive.
