Multi-booklet

In this exercise, you apply a multi-booklet imposition to a document.

  1. Open the file Manual_Languages_A4.pdf.

  2. From the menu, select [Document]  → [Document type...]. The [Document type] dialogue opens.

  3. Select [Multi-booklet].

  4. In [Create output groups], set 2 sheets per output group.

  5. Click [OK] to close the [Document type] dialogue.

  6. Note that the media changes to A3. 2 A3 sheets can host 8 A4 images.

The [Structure] view shows subsets of 8 pages in the [Output group], since 8 pages fit on 2 sheets.

    NOTE

If not visible, click in the menu [View]  → [Show columns] and enable [Output group].

    NOTE

The [1-sided] and [Force to back] options from the [Pages] menu are still available to control the pages on the cover.

    1. Multi booklet selection: each language is printed as a separate booklet.

  7. Go to the [Production] workspace.

  8. Select the PRISMAprepare print to PDF printer.

  9. Select the [Layout] section.

  10. In the [Layout] section, click on the pencil next to the [Imposition template] dropdown list. Enable [Collating marks] to print black lines at the spines of the booklets. These collating marks help you to gather the multiple booklets in the correct order.

  11. Print the document to the PRISMAprepare print to PDF printer. A dialogue appears from which you can save the result to PDF.

  12. Open the saved PDF. The black lines in the spine are visible on every first sheet of an output group.

    1. Collating mark: see the black lines in the spine.

  13. Save the file in the 'Participants' folder on the desktop with the name Scenario_26.pdf.
