Perform automatic media registration

The automatic media registration adjustment corrects the misalignment of media on the paper path by changing media attributes in the media catalog. Therefore, changes are applied to all jobs that use these media. When a manual media registration has been done before, the adjusted media parameters are included in the automatic media registration.

Before you perform the automatic registration adjustment, ensure the SZ rollers have been cleaned.

IMPORTANT

The automatic media registration adjustment optimizes the media registration, but keep in mind that minor adjustments can be hardly visible.

  1. Load and assign approximately 120 sheets in one of the paper trays.

  2. Select the paper tray in which you loaded the paper.

  3. Press [Optimize].

  4. Touch [LEF registration] or [SEF registration], depending on the feed direction of the media sheets in the printer.

LEF means feeding long edge. SEF means feeding short edge.

  5. Start the automatic adjustment. The printer prints a series of registration charts that are measured via the inline scanner. You can dispose these registration charts.

    NOTE

If the automatic adjustment fails, check if the loaded sheets have the correct size and if the squareness of the paper is good (non-squareness of the paper can lead to a failing automatic registration).

  6. Print a new verification chart if you want to check the results of the automatic adjustment.

  7. Close the menu.

You can go to the manual adjustment settings to see the correction values that were generated by the automatic adjustment procedure.
