The purpose of a backup is to create a set of files that represents the current configuration of a printer. A backup can be used in the following situations.
Repair the printer when the configuration is lost.
Configure the printer configuration after a new installation.
Configure the printer according to the configuration of a printer with the same type and version.
The latest 10 backups are available on PRISMAsync Print Server. To guarantee that backups remain available, backups can be exported to an external location. In case of data loss, the latest backup can be imported.
You are advised to create and export backups on a regular base (daily or weekly). Moreover, when the configuration has changed significantly - for example when user accounts, profiles, or automated workflows have been added - create and export a backup to safeguard the update.
In the following situations an automatic backup is made:
during a shutdown that was started by an operator.
before and after an automatic upgrade.

By default, backups do not contain confidential data. When you configure the PRISMAsync Print Server backup and restore settings, you can indicate that backups must contain confidential data.
Be aware that when confidential data is not available in a backup, the confidential data must be entered manually in case of a printer failure.
