The fonts available in PS and PDF are also available for PPML. This includes the user installed fonts. Additional fonts are available for PDF and PPML only.
It is strongly recommended to you always use correct PPML files, with all fonts embedded in the files.
When PPML font substitution is enabled, any missing fonts in the jobs are replaced using an alternate font available in the PDL. The mechanism works as follows:
Missing Roman fonts are replaced with one of the two ‘Multiple Master’ fonts. ‘Multiple Master’ fonts are programmable fonts that can be adjusted based on the characteristics of the initial font. For example, character width, spacing, italic, etc.
Missing Asian fonts characters are replaced with characters from the available Asian fonts. Font substitution depends on the font pack that is licenced. When no Asian font licence is available, missing Asian characters are taken from the KozGoPro-medium and KozMinProVI-Regular fonts, if available.
When PPML font substitution is disabled, any missing fonts in the PPML jobs leads to an error page: "Page contains unavailable fonts."
