Define the media families

This topic contains the following instructions.

Go to the media families

  1. Open the Settings Editor and go to: [Media]  → [Media families].

Add a media family

  1. Click [Add].

  2. Use the table below for information on the attributes.

  3. Click [OK].

Copy a media family

  1. Select the media family.

  2. Click [Copy media family].

  3. Click [OK].

Edit a media family

  1. Select the media family.

  2. Click [Edit].

  3. Use the table below for information on the attributes.

  4. Click [OK].

Delete a media family

  1. Select the media family.

  2. Click [Delete].

Print a colour reference chart

  1. Select the media family.

  2. Click [Print].

  3. Select the media.

  4. Click [OK].

Define the default media family

  1. Open the Settings Editor and go to: [Colour]  → [Colour defaults].

  2. Go to [Default media family].

  3. Select the default media family.

  4. Click [OK].

Print a media family calibration report

  1. Open the Settings Editor and go to: [Support]  → [Troubleshooting].

  2. Click [Print report of latest media family calibration].

  3. Click [OK].

Show a warning symbol when a media family needs calibration

  1. Open the Settings Editor and go to: [Media]  → [Configuration].

  2. Enable the setting [Warnings when media family needs calibration].

  3. Click [OK].

Media family attribute

Description

[Name]

Name according to naming conventions.

[Description]

Indicates a description of the media family.

[Calibration timer (hours)]

Indicates the media family calibration interval which can be set between 0 and 512 hours, in steps of 1 hour. Enter 0 to disable the media family calibration timer.

[G7®]

Indicates a media family used for G7 calibration.

[Calibration media]

Indicates the default media used for printing the calibration charts.

[Last calibration date]

Indicates when the last calibration occurred.

[Origin of calibration target]

Select the calibration target that must be applied to generate the calibration curves.

  • [Output profile]

    When the calibration target comes from the output profile, the most optimal grey balance can be achieved.

  • [Calibration measurements]

    The classic method to calculate calibration curves

When you change the origin of the calibration target, new calibration curves are generated based on the last stored calibration measurements.

[Output profile]

Indicates the output profile of the media family.

[Import CMYK curves]

[CMYK curves]

Displays if a CMYK curve is applied to a media family.

  • [None]: no CMYK curve is applied

  • CMYK curve preset: a custom or factory defined CMYK curves preset.

    Use the [CMYK curves] drop-down button to select a custom or factory defined CMYK curves preset:

    • Cool

    • Lively

    • Saturated

    • Sharp

    • Warm

  • [Anonymous]: an imported CMYK curve is applied.

    Use the [CMYK curves] option to import a CMYK curve for this media family - halftone combination.
