The Arizona 1300 GTF / XTF series printers are equipped with a Category 3, Performance Level 'PLr d' Safety Control System (SCS) to protect the Operator and any other personnel when working with the machine.
The printer is equipped with Emergency Stop buttons, several interlock switches and an optional automation interface for auxiliary equipment (handling the printer output material). A green beacon light indicates the status of the safety system and the printer.
There are various elements to the SCS:
Emergency Stop Buttons
Maintenance Station Interlock
Carriage Guard
Automation Interface (optional)
1. Emergency Stop Buttons:
Activating one of the Emergency-Stop buttons will stop all printer motion and turns off the UV curing system. Emergency stop buttons are installed on the outer edges of the Gantry as well as on the User Interface Desk. Activating an Emergency-Stop button stops all printer motion and turns off the UV curing system.
To re-activate the printer after you press an Emergency Stop button, turn the button counterclockwise. Upon release of the button, no motion can be initiated without acknowledgment of the operator from the Control Station.
2. Maintenance Station Interlock:
The maintenance station is located under the carriage and provides access to perform printhead maintenance and swab printheads. Carriage and Gantry motion motors are disabled, when the station drawer is open. The interlock system is automatically reset when the drawer is closed.
3. Carriage Guard:
The carriage guard is located at the carriage and protects the operator in such way that it will stop all printer motions and turns off the UV curing system when the guard detects an obstruction.
4. Automation Interface (optional)
The machine can be equipped with an optional interface to connect to the SCS of the auxiliary equipment. Pressing an emergency stop in the Arizona machine will result in a stop of the auxiliary machine (and vice versa). This interface is configurable.
A green beacon light, located on the carriage, indicates to the operator the status of the Safety Control System and the printer.
Beacon off indicates the printer can be approached without caution. The machine cannot initiate movement since the Safety Control System has disabled all motion and hazardous hardware.
Beacon on indicates the printer is powered up and ready to initiate motion. This informs the operator to approach the machine with caution, because it can initiate motion at any moment.
Beacon blinking: indicates that a Remote Session is active. This tells an operator to approach the machine with caution, because it can initiate motion at any moment.
