Export and import a backup

This topic contains the following instructions:

  • Export a backup from the Settings Editor

  • Export a backup to USB from control panel

Export a backup from the Settings Editor

  1. Open the Settings Editor and go to: [Support]  → [Backups].

  2. When the backup contains confidential data, click [Configure confidential data] and ensure the export of confidential data is configured.

    NOTE

    When the backup confidential data status is: [Included, but in legacy format], the backup cannot be exported.

    IMPORTANT

    Be aware that when confidential data is not available in an exported backup, the confidential data must be entered manually in case of a printer failure.

  3. Select the backup.

  4. Click [Export].

  5. Click [OK].

  6. Browse to the location and store the ZIP file of the backup.

    When the backup contains confidential data, the confidential data of the backup has been encrypted by the configured passphrase.

Export a backup to USB from control panel

  1. Go to the control panel.

  2. Touch [System]  → [Setup]  → [System configuration]  → [Backups].

    NOTE

    You can also touch the indicated button at the start screen of the control panel and touch [System configuration].

  3. When the backup contains confidential data, click [Edit] in the [Configure confidential data] field and ensure that the export of confidential data is configured.

    NOTE

    When the backup confidential data status is: [Included, but in legacy format], the backup cannot be exported.

    IMPORTANT

    Be aware that when confidential data is not available in an exported backup, the confidential data must be entered manually in case of a printer failure.

  4. Insert a USB device into a USB port on the control panel.

    The [Export backup to USB device] option becomes active, as soon as the printer detects a usable USB drive.

  5. Touch [Export].

  6. Select the backup from the list

  7. Touch [OK].

  8. Browse to the storage location and store the backup ZIP file.

    When the backup contains confidential data, the confidential data of the backup has been encrypted by the configured passphrase.

Import a backup from the Settings Editor

  1. Open the Settings Editor and go to: [Support]  → [Backups].

  2. Click [Import].

  3. Browse to the storage location and select the backup ZIP file.

  4. Click [Import].

    The backup is listed.

Import a backup from control panel

  1. Go to the control panel.

  2. Touch [System]  → [Setup]  → [System configuration]  → [Restore].

    NOTE

    You can also touch the [System configuration] symbol on the start screen of the control panel.

  3. Insert the USB device with the backup file into a USB port of the control panel.

    The [Import] option in the [Import backup from USB device] field becomes active, as soon as the printer detects a usable USB device.

  4. Touch [Import].

  5. Select the backup on the USB device.

  6. Touch [OK].

    NOTE

    To restore the backup, use the [Restore user configuration] button.
