Load media with the media input unit

Introduction

In this topic you will find information on how to load the media from an external device into the Colorado 1650.

Before you begin

  • Check the media up-front (small roll).

Calibration can be performed on the media loaded on an external device.

  • Load the media roll centered onto the core on the external device.

NOTE
  • Load the media for outside printing is preferred.

  • Print quality is guaranteed after 1 meter (39.4 inch).

When the media is taped to the take-up roll.

Procedure

  1. Place a marker on the frame of the Colorado 1650 media input unit to identify the width of the media (for example a piece of tape).
    NOTE

The notch in the illustration above indicates the center of the guiding plate of the media input unit. Place the marker at a distance "media width divided by 2" from the center notch.

  2. Add a mark (line) at a distance of 21 cm (8.3 inch) from the leading edge this on both sides of the media from the external device, left and right.
  3. Before you feed the media into the printer, align the media with the marker on the printer (the tape you applied in step 1).
  4. NOTE

It is highly recommended to perform the next two steps with two persons.

Align the 2 markers (lines) on the left and right side of the media with the input unit, see illustration. Distance to red dotted line is 3 cm (1.18 inch).
  5. Feed the media into the media input unit. The input unit pinch will start to rotate for 2 seconds and grab the media. Check the media position at the reference marker (lines) position. The allowed tolerance is ± 5 mm (0.19 inch) at the left and ± 5 mm (0.19 inch) at the right side.

If the position is not within the tolerance is ± 5 mm (0.19 inch), pull the media back (2 persons preferred) and feed again until the position is within the tolerance.
