Create business cards

In this exercise, you create business cards based on a variable data file

  1. Open the file Invitation_BITE.pdf.

  2. In the left pane, select the [VDP] workspace.

  3. Click the button [Select data source]. A data source contains the variable data for the master document.

  4. Select the data source file Invitation.xlsx. The variable data appears at the bottom of the screen.

  5. Select page 2.

  6. Drag a guideline to the left side of the leftmost vegetable.

  7. Click [Add text frame] and align the text frame with the guideline.

    1. Guidelines can be drawn horizontally and vertically

    2. Text box

  8. Insert the following fields:

    1. <First Name> <Last Name> Arial Black, 10 points, left and top aligned

    2. <Address-1> Arial, 7 points, colour: blue, left and top aligned

    3. <Zip code-1> <City-1> Arial, 7 points, colour: blue, left and top aligned

  9. Enable the checkbox [Remove lines with empty fields] and [Wrap text]. Now, PRISMAprepare will automatically ignore empty fields and wrap the text in the box if text strings get too long. Click [OK].

  10. Click [Add barcode frame].

  11. Insert the email field. Select [2D] as type. Select 'QR Code' as encoding. Align the QR code with the text-frame. Click [OK].

  12. Browse through the records at the bottom and check the preview.

  13. Select the first page.

  14. Add an image frame with the following settings:

    1. Select 'Segment image' for option [Field] in section [Content].

    2. Set the image frame size equal to the size file: 105 x 74 mm.

    3. Horizontal and vertical shift: 0

    4. Scale: [Fit to frame]

  15. Click [OK]. The first page should look like below:

  16. Click [Add text frame] and position it in the middle of the white balloon.

  17. Add the variable and fixed text according the picture below. Format the text according to personal wishes.

  18. Click [OK] to close.

  19. Browse through the records at the bottom and check the preview.

  20. Click the [Validate VDP] button to check if the variable data fits into the frames. Change the size of one or more frames if a warning is detected.

  21. Save the file in the 'Participants' folder on the desktop with the name Scenario_161.pdf.
