IPP specifications

The IPP specifications are mainly based on the Internet Candidate Standard IPP 5100.12-2011 published by the Print Working Group (http://pwg.org). The Print Working Group has published additional extensions that are IEEE standards which are registered in the ID range PWG 5110.1-12. In particular, the IPP specifications refer to:

  • For output location:

    PWG-5100.2: IPP "ouptput-bin" attribute extension

  • For media description:

PWG-5100.3: IPP Production Printing Attributes - Set 1

  • For media usage:

    PWG-5100.8: IPP “-actual attributes”

Some extensions to those standards have been created to comply with the specific needs of document printing in the "EFI Fiery Central" production printing workflow.

IPP Encoding and Transport

The PRISMAsync IPP service is fully compliant with RFC 2910: Internet Printing Protocol/1.1: Encoding and Transport. This includes to support:

  • HTTP POST requests for the IPP URL schema

  • IPP request decoding and response encoding

  • IPP tags decoding encoding

The TCP port 631 is dedicated to the PRISMAsync IPP service.

IPP clients use specific URLs syntax to connect to the PRISMAsync IPP service. The table below lists the URL syntaxes used for each supported application:
