If this is the first print of the day, perform daily maintenance. See Maintenance Guidelines for details.
The operator must be trained to use ONYX Thrive. Training is provided by ONYX.
When the job is sent, it will appear on the printer monitor in the list of Active print jobs.
Check the print parameters in the Job information panel.
Use a digital slide caliper to accurately measure the thickness of the media. A small error in measurement of media thickness can reduce print quality. A large error can cause a carriage crash with the media.
The [Flatbed printing parameters] menu will be displayed. Enter the measured media thickness value and set the lamp levels. Select the Confirm Printing parameters buttons when the information is correct.
Place and register the media on the printer vacuum table
Place the media on the table in the orientation that matches the placement settings of the job (use the table rulers and the registration pins to help with placement ). For more information about how to place and register media, see Place and register the media on the table.
Set the vacuum level
Select the vacuum level in the printer software. The vacuum system regulates the pressure automatically. It is not needed to mask the table. Only when the vacuum system cannot maintain the necessary pressure masking is needed.
See Set the vacuum level for the Flow table to learn more about the vacuum levels.
Turn on table vacuum
Click on the Vacuum button in the printer UI to activate the table vacuum. Also a vacuum foot pedal switch is provided to help secure the media on the table vacuum. Step on the foot pedal to toggle the table vacuum on or off.
When the vacuum is switched off, wait a few seconds before you switch it on again.
Clean the media, if required
If the media is dusty or dirty, clean it with an appropriate cleaner. If using a liquid like isopropyl alcohol, allow sufficient time to dry prior to imaging.
The physical Print button is located at the corner of the table where media is loaded and a Start print is also available in the UI. Press either Print button to start the print job.
