You can select a print mode that best suits your application. Choose a gloss, matte or mixed matte/gloss finish and select your print mode in the RIP software.
The location of the print modes differs, depending on the RIP you are using. For more information, see Manage media profiles in ONYX, Manage media profiles in Caldera.
The available print modes can differ, depending on the media type configuration in the RIP.
A monodirectional option is available for all print modes at half productivity.

For Colorado M-series a print mode exists that allows you to combine matte and gloss finishes in one print. This print mode is called FLXfinish+.
To use FLXfinish+ you do not need any additional varnish channels or extra printheads.
When using the FLXfinish+ print mode, the printhead is divided into zones that are dedicated to matte or gloss printing. Because both finishes can be applied simultaneously, media is not retracted or moved around between printing of gloss and matte sections.

For Colorado M-series M3W and M5W configurations, there are print modes that allow you to print with white ink.
To use white ink, you need a license and a printhead suitable for white ink.
When using white print modes, the printhead is divided into zones that are dedicated to white or CMYK printing. White and CMYK layers are printed simultaneously.

* Matte and mixed matte/gloss print modes can only be used if the FLXfinish+ license is installed.
** For Film -frontlit/rollup-, in gloss mode, the quality is heavily media dependent by wrinkle or inkspread.
Uncoated paper: gloss print mode is not recommended because the curing quality is not guaranteed.
For optimal print quality the following print surface temperatures are recommended.
