Use hot folders

To increase productivity you can use hot folders.

The Arizona Xpert Engine allows you to associate a specific recipe to all the PDF files that you drop in a hot folder.

You can configure hot folders in the system configuration settings (see Define the system configuration settings).

Setting

Description

[Path]

Enter the path to a local or a shared hot folder.

NOTE

If you have trouble connecting to a shared folder see Cannot configure the path to a hot folder.

[Recipe]

Select the recipe that you want to associate with the PDF files in the hot folder.

NOTE

Only recipes with one input file are available to use with hot folders.

[Auto print]

Tick this option when the Arizona Xpert Engine must automatically submit the jobs, that are created from the PDF files that are picked up from the hot folder, to ONYX Thrive, unless there are issues with the job such as missing inputs.

[Delete when successfully printed]

Tick this option to automatically delete jobs, that were successfully processed and submitted to ONYX Thrive, from the system.

This prevents jobs from piling up in the system when the Arizona Xpert Engine user interface is not actually used.

NOTE

If an error occurs while processing the file, the job remains in the system, waiting for manual intervention.

When you save the settings, the hot folder is ready for use. All PDF files that you drop in the hot folder will be processed based on the settings defined in the recipe associated with the hot folder. After the job is created in the system, the file in the hot folder is deleted.

Print more copies of the same PDF file

When you want to print more than one copy of the same PDF file, you can add the number of copies in front of the file name of the PDF file.

Example:

Filename in the hotfolder "blockout_sticker_coffee.pdf" prints one copy of the PDF file.

Filename in the hotfolder "5#blockout_sticker_coffee.pdf" prints 5 copies of the PDF file.
