Clean the mirrors

Introduction

When you see pollution on the mirrors or on the glass plate in front of the mirror funnel, immediately clean these parts.

It is advised to clean the mirrors and the glass plate in front of the mirror funnel regularly to keep the printer in the best condition.

Before you begin

Use Colorado M-series prescribed:

  • Microflex gloves for handling ink

  • Lint free cloths

  • Demineralized water

NOTE

For information on the prescribed maintenance materials, see List of Colorado M-series maintenance materials.

CAUTION

Wear the prescribed gloves when contact with ink or maintenance materials is possible. Gloves should always overlap sleeves. Follow the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) guidelines carefully in order to ensure maximum safety.

Procedure

  1. Make sure the printer is not printing.
  2. Put on the Colorado M-series approved gloves.
  3. Open the top cover from the media input side.
  4. Carefully push the printhead carriage to the left in manual maintenance position.
    IMPORTANT

    Touch the printhead carriage on the covered area only, otherwise you can damage the printheads.

  5. Locate the mirror boxes on both sides of the printhead carriage.
  6. Unscrew the six green screws of the mirror boxes manually.

  7. Dampen a lint free cloth with the demineralized water and clean all mirrors on the inside of the mirror boxes.

    There are 3 mirrors.

    IMPORTANT

    Use demineralized water, do not use any other liquid.

  8. Make sure that all matte deposits are removed.
  9. Carefully wipe the mirror boxes dry.
  10. Place the mirror boxes back into position.
  11. Fasten the screws, hand tight.
  12. Carefully push the printhead carriage and the curing carriage past each other to ensure they do not touch each other.
  13. Locate the mirror funnel on the curing carriage.
  14. Dampen a lint free cloth with the demineralized water and clean the glass plate in front of the mirror funnel.
    IMPORTANT

    Use demineralized water, do not use any other liquid.

  15. Make sure that all matte deposits are removed.
  16. Carefully wipe the glass plate dry.
  17. Dispose the gloves and cloths as chemical waste according to local regulations.
  18. Close the top cover.
