Install software updates from a file on a USB device

Before you begin

Viahttps://downloads.cpp.canon/ you can download software updates to be installed manually.

Store the software updates on a USB device.

  • Ensure that the [Use of USB device] setting on the control panel is enabled to enable the use of a USB device.

  • You need to have the access right: [Access to installation tasks].

Install software updates from a file on a USB device

  1. Insert the USB device in the control panel.

  2. On the control panel, go to [System]  → [Setup]  → [System configuration]  → [Software updates]

  3. Select [Install PRISMAsync updates from USB] or [Install operating system update from USB].

  4. Log in as system administrator.

  5. Browse to the location of the files with the software updates on the USB device. Select the files.

  6. Touch [Open].

    In case of Microsoft updates: depending on your configuration, the system automatically starts the installation or you need to start the installation manually.

  7. To finalize the installation the system might need a reboot. Depending on your configuration, the system does it automatically or a reboot icon will appear on your screen and you need to do it manually.

    The installed software update is listed in the list [Operating system updates] or in the list [Installed PRISMAsync updates] in the Settings Editor.
