Temperature adjustment time of media before printing

When media are moved from the storage room to the print room which has a different temperature and relative humidity, the media must acclimate during a certain period. During this acclimation period, keep the reams closed until you are ready to load the paper trays.

Acclimation period

The table below helps you to determine the acclimation period of stacked, closed cartons with media. The indicated times refer to the situation where you are transporting a set of cartons using a pallet. When you transfer the cartons or reams one by one you can decrease the adjustment time.

Example

A pallet with 40 cartons, containing 200 reams in total, is ordered.

The transport takes place by truck without any heating. Temperature is minus 10 oC. Pallet will be stored directly in the print room which has a temperature of 18 oC. Following the table, the pallet must remain in the print room during 75 hours before the media can be used.

To reduce the acclimation time, cartons can be stored individually. For one carton with five reams, the acclimation time is reduced to 34 hours.
