When you configured the download and installation of operating system updates from On Remote Service, the print server behaves as follows:
Once a day the printer searches for new operating system or PRISMAsync updates at midnight.
NOTE
If the system is offline or shut down at midnight, the updates will be checked for again the next day.
When the operating system updates are discovered by the printer, it is not possible to make a selection of the found updates. All found updates are downloaded or installed depending on the configuration. During the download or installation, the printer remains operational. To finalize the installation, you must restart the system.
Ensure that [Remote connection] is enabled on the printer:
On the operator panel, tap on the [System] icon on the right.
Tap on
Make sure:
[Remote connection] is enabled.
[Remote connection status] is connected.
NOTE
A proxy may be required to access the internet and make use of Remote services. When required, make sure the proxy settings are configured correctly. For more information, see Configure the network.
Open the Settings Editor and go to: .
Go to [Available PRISMAsync and operating system updates from On Remote Service].
Click [Configure].
By default, the checkboxes to receive software updates are checked. You can uncheck a checkbox if you do not want to receive software updates from On Remote Service.
Use the [Download moment] setting to select the download moment.
[Immediately]: The printer downloads the software updates when they are available.
[At specified time]: The printer downloads the software updates at the time you specify.
[Manually]: You initiate the download of software updates manually.
Use the [Installation moment] to select the installation time.
[Immediately]: The printer installs the software after they are downloaded. The printer remains operational. To finalize the installation, you must restart the system.
[At specified time]: The printer installs the software updates at the time you specify. The printer remains operational. To finalize the installation, you must restart the system.
[Manually]: You install software updates manually after they are downloaded. The printer remains operational. To finalize the installation, you must restart the system.
Select [Send email to system administrator about status of updates] to receive status information about the download and installation process. System administrators who have a configured email address receive these emails.
You receive an email when the following status has been reached:
When you select [Manually] in the [Download moment] setting, you receive an email when software updates are available for download.
When you select [Manually] in the [Installation moment] setting, you receive an email when software updates are available for installation and when you must restart the system to finalize the installation.
You receive an email when software updates are being installed.
You receive an email when software updates have been installed.
You receive an email when an error occurs during downloading or installation of the software updates.
Open the Settings Editor and go to: .
Go to [Available PRISMAsync and operating system updates from On Remote Service].
Select the available software update. Click [Download].
View the progress of the download in the [Progress] column.
It is possible to pause the download process.
Click [Pause downloading] to pause the download process. Click [Resume downloading] to resume the download process.
The download is finished when the progress indicator states [-] and the [Install] button is available.
Open the Settings Editor and go to: .
Go to [Available PRISMAsync and operating system updates from On Remote Service].
Select the downloaded software update. Click [Install].
To finalize the installation, you must restart the system.
In all cases, the printer requests a restart after installation. You can restart immediately, or later.
Select the restart moment and click on [OK].
After you restart the system, the software update is removed from the list in [Available PRISMAsync and operating system updates from On Remote Service].
The installed software update can be seen in one of the following lists:
[Installed PRISMAsync updates], if the software update is a printer software update.
[Operating system updates], if the software update is an operating system update.
