Clean the M&C scanner

Introduction

When you see pollution on the M&C scanner, immediately clean the scanner.

Cleaning the M&C scanner has to be done once a month.

Before you begin

Use Colorado 1650 prescribed:

  • Microflex gloves for handling ink

  • Lint free cloths

  • Cleaning liquid (IPA)

NOTE

For information on the prescribed maintenance materials, see List of Colorado 1650 maintenance materials.

CAUTION
  • Wear the prescribed gloves when contact with ink or maintenance materials is possible. Gloves should always overlap sleeves. Follow the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) guidelines carefully in order to ensure maximum safety.

Procedure

  1. Make sure the printer is not printing.
  2. Put on the Colorado 1650 approved gloves.
  3. Open the top cover from the media input side.
  4. Carefully push the printhead carriage to the left in manual maintenance position.
    IMPORTANT

Touch the printhead carriage on the covered area only, otherwise you can damage the printheads.

  5. Go to the media input side and locate the manual maintenance door on the left.
  6. Open the media cover (1) and lift the lever of the manual maintenance door on the left (2).
  7. Open the manual maintenance door (3). A light is switched on.
    IMPORTANT

Do not use any external light source to prevent curing of the ink and damage to the printheads.

  8. Locate the M&C scanner (indicated by the yellow circle) next to the matrix plate in the compartment.
  9. Dampen a lint free cloth with the cleaning liquid and clean the glass plate in front of the M&C scanner.
    IMPORTANT

Only clean the glass plate of the M&C scanner. Do not touch the nozzle plates of the printhead. When you touch the nozzle plates you can damage the printhead.

    IMPORTANT

Use the prescribed cleaning liquid. Do not use any other cleaners.

    IMPORTANT

This cleaning liquid (IPA) is not used for cleaning the matrix plate, wiper and clean wall, maintenance drawer and heated parts of the maintenance station.

  12. Dispose the gloves and cloths as chemical waste according to local regulations.
