Clean the maintenance station

Introduction

The maintenance station plays an important role to keep the printheads optimally cleaned.

Before you begin

Use Colorado M-series prescribed:

  • Microflex gloves for handling ink

  • Lint free cloths and swabs

  • Cleaning liquid (Cleaner MB - Methyl benzoate)

  • Cleaning liquid (IPA)

NOTE

For information on the prescribed maintenance materials, see List of Colorado M-series maintenance materials.

CAUTION
  • Wear the prescribed gloves when contact with ink or maintenance materials is possible. Gloves should always overlap sleeves. Follow the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) guidelines carefully in order to ensure maximum safety.

IMPORTANT

Use the prescribed cleaning liquid. Do not use any other cleaners.

Procedure

  1. Start the maintenance action via the operator panel. For more information, see Start manual maintenance.
  2. Put on the Colorado M-series approved gloves.
  3. Open the top cover from the media input side.
  4. Locate the purge tray on the right-hand side.

    The purge tray is located in the maintenance station.

  5. Take a lint free cloth and clean the purge tray. Clean until all residue ink is gone.
    CAUTION

    Be careful to touch, the purge tray can be hot. Allow 5 minutes to cool down before cleaning.

  6. If necessary, dampen a lint free cloth with cleaner IPA to remove any remaining ink.
  7. Dispose the gloves, cloths and swabs as chemical waste according to local regulations.
  8. Close the top cover.
    IMPORTANT

    Make sure all covers are closed correctly to prevent cured ink in your system.

  9. On the operator panel tap [Completed] to end the maintenance action or continue to the next action, Clean the matrix plate area and the black protection cover.
