DFD interface signals

Introduction

The DFD interface consists of a set of command signals and status signals. The printer acts as the master unit and the external finisher is seen as a slave.

With the command signals the printer controls the external finisher. The external finisher can act upon these command signals but it may never run into any kind of unsafe situation caused by malfunctioning of the printer.

With the status signals the external finisher can inform the printer about several status changes in the external finisher. The printer will act upon these status changes. The printer will never run into any kind of unsafe situation caused by malfunctioning of the external finisher.

There are several parameters, which can be used to customise the interface for use of a specific external finisher.

This is not an electrical connection scheme. It only shows the logical connections.

In the following paragraphs the different command and status signals are explained as well as their mutual dependencies and parameterisation possibilities.
