Ease of operation

The user panel display is a touch screen. You can tap on the buttons on the user panel to access the various functions.

The user panel has three main menus. The taskbar at the bottom of the user panel display contains the buttons that give access to the three main menus.

The settings are functionally grouped and accessible via the following tabs.

The [Jobs] menu

Enables you to manage print jobs on the machine locally.

The [Queue] tab:

  • gives an overview of all scheduled jobs

  • allows you to pause or resume jobs

  • allows you to delete jobs

  • allows you to move a job to the top of the job queue.

The [Smart Inbox] tab:

  • gives an overview of all Smart Inboxes that contain print jobs

  • allows you to change the job settings of print jobs

  • allows you to delete jobs from Smart Inboxes.

The [Media] menu

Gives an overview of the media types and media sizes that are currently available on the print system.

The [System] menu

Enables you to define some system settings and access the wizards that assist you to perform maintenance tasks.

The [Ink] tab:

  • gives an overview of the ink supply rate of the ink tanks

  • indicates the status of the maintenance tray.

The [Counters] tab:

  • gives an overview of the total media usage

  • gives an overview of the total estimated ink usage.

The [Maintenance] tab:

  • allows you to start wizards to maintain the print quality

  • allows you to start wizards to replace consumables

The [Setup] tab:

  • displays information about the print system

  • allows you to set the language and the user panel display settings

  • allows you to clear the system, to update the system software, or to shut down or restart the system

  • allows you to define the system settings, to identify the system and to connect the system to the network.

The dynamic bar

The dynamic bar is the upper blue part of the user panel display. The dynamic bar gives you feedback about the status of the print system.

NOTE

The dynamic bar is always visible, irrespective of the selected menu.

Function

Displays the status of the machine, for example [Initialising...] or [Printing:]. Each status message can have a sub-message with additional information.

Displays the file name of the current job and the job progress.

Displays the operator action. The colours of the vertical status bar at the left-hand side of section 3 indicate the following.

When the colour is orange, the displayed operator action is required soon.

When the colour is red, the displayed operator action is required now.

NOTE

The user panel can only display one message at a time. When there are more messages, the user panel displays the first required or most important message.

Further, on the right-hand side of section 3, icons can appear, indicating the status, for example:

The maintenance tray is almost full.

The maintenance tray is full.

Cyan ink cartridge not available. Also available for other cartridges.

Cyan ink cartridge almost empty. Also available for other cartridges.

Cyan ink cartridge empty. Also available for other cartridges.

Switch the user panel display off and on

It is possible to switch off the user panel display, for example if you do not want to use the printer for a longer period of time. Tap on [System] - [Setup] - [User panel display settings] - [Turn off user panel] to switch off. To switch on, just tap on the black user panel display.
