Replace the tissue cassette

Introduction

You can replace the tissue cassette without service assistance.

  • The operator panel gives an orange warning when you can replace the tissue cassette.

  • The operator panel gives a red warning when you must replace the tissue cassette.

  • You can take out a partially used tissue cassette and place it back later.

Before you begin

Use Colorado M-series prescribed:

  • Microflex gloves for handling ink

  • Tissue cassette

NOTE

For information on the prescribed maintenance materials, see List of Colorado M-series maintenance materials.

CAUTION

Wear the prescribed gloves when contact with ink or maintenance materials is possible. Gloves should always overlap sleeves. Follow the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) guidelines carefully in order to ensure maximum safety.

Procedure

  1. On the operator panel tap on the [Tools] icon on the right.
  2. Go to [Tissue cassette].
  3. Tap on [Replace] and read the instructions.
    NOTE

    In software version 4.0 you do not tap on [Replace]. You must carefully push the printhead carriage to the left in manual maintenance position.

    IMPORTANT

    Touch the printhead carriage on the covered area only, otherwise you can damage the printheads.

  4. Move to the media input side and wait until the carriage has moved into position.
  5. Put on the Colorado M-series approved gloves.
  6. Open the top cover.
  7. Locate the maintenance station with the tissue cassette on the right hand side.
  8. Hold the green handle of the tissue cassette between your thumb and index finger.

    Lift upwards to remove the tissue cassette.

  9. Dispose the tissue cassette as chemical waste according to local regulations.
  10. Take a new tissue cassette
  11. Remove the transport lock from the new tissue cassette.
  12. Place the new tissue cassette into the slot.

    Make sure the tissue cassette is fully inserted into the holder.

  13. Dispose the gloves as chemical waste according to local regulations.
  14. Close the top cover.
  15. On the operator panel, tap on [Completed] to end the maintenance action.

    The counter will be reset.
