Print a PRISMAelevate XL PDF

Introduction

This procedure describes how to print PRISMAelevate XL PDF. For information about creating a PRISMAelevate XL PDF, see PRISMAelevate XL Extensions Help.

A PRISMAelevate XL printer (with the media profiles for Alto, Alto-Plus and Brila) must be available in ONYX Thrive.

Procedure

  1. Open the ONYX Thrive.
  2. Click on the [Open] icon.
  3. Browse to the print-ready PDF file of the elevated artwork, adjust the print settings if necessary and click on [Open].
  4. Edit the job settings if necessary and click on the [Submit] icon.
  5. Enter a Job Name and click on [Submit].
  6. The job now appears in the print queue with the status "Waiting to Print".
  7. In the [Print Setup] window click on [Print Now].
  8. The [Layout Preview] screen opens.
  9. Define the settings and click on [Print Panel]

    Special settings:

    1. Varnish Overcoat setting

A varnish overcoat can be used as a protective layer or to optimize the color of the image. The varnish overcoat is printed together with elevation - white - color at an optimal height.

      NOTE

Varnish Overcoat is not supported for Brila print jobs or print jobs using a CMYKWW printer channel configuration.

      Options:

      • [None] - No overcoat

      • [Level 1] - Two layers of varnish

      • [Level 2] - Four layers of varnish

    2. [Layout Check] for Alto & Alto-Plus print jobs

This setting enables you to check the layout and gives an impression of the color without having to print the entire job with elevation.

      Options:

      • [Off]

Only the elevated print job is sent to the printer.

      • [On]

Two batch print jobs are sent to the printer. The first job is the [Layout Check] print job without the elevation, and the second is the print job, including the elevation.

  10. The status changes to "Printing" and the job also becomes visible in the PRISMAelevate XL ALPS Engine user interface.

When an error occurs, click on [Help] to find more information about that error.

    NOTE

When the [Layout Check] option is enabled, two jobs will appear in the job queue.

See PRISMAelevate XL ALPS Engine user interface how to access and operate the PRISMAelevate XL ALPS Engine software.
